Before you do anything else it will be helpful to read the talk, More Diligent and Concerned at Home, by Elder Bednar. It emphasizes the purpose of FHE and gives hope for those times when you're not sure if what you are teaching is sinking in (like every single week!).
Download and print a FHE Assignment Chart. Downloadable for free here. It is important to share responsibilities, even with very young children. Click the link above to download FHE charts for families with between 4 and 10 members. Full instructions are included beneath download options.
How this Site Works
Each week there is a new lesson. The lesson for a given Monday will be posted on the Friday before. This way you have time to print any materials, make arrangements and do pre-lesson assignments if needed.
Yearly Plans - I planned out themes and lesson topics for the enitre year. Click the YEARLY PLANS tab on top to see an overview of the entire year.
Monthly Theme - Each month their is a theme. The theme is a central topic which all lessons and activities will be structured around.
Song of the Month - Each month I choose a SONG OF THE MONTH which supports the monthly theme. This is a song I want my children to really learn well. We practice our S.O.T.M. after the lesson portion of our Family Home Evening each week. Every Song of the Month will have a printable poster, word chart or teaching idea to help your kids learn the words.
Finding Lessons - You can find lessons in three different ways on this site.
1. At the top of the sidebar you will see a box labeled THIS MONTH. During the current month the lesson titles are updated as links as each week's lesson is published.
2. Each week the YEARLY PLANS post will be updated so that the most recent lesson titles are now a link to that lesson.
3. You can search by topic in the right hand tool bar under TOPICS.
Freebies - This has an easy list of download-able freebies I have designed specifically for this site. Feel free to use them and share them with others. However, lesson plans, themes and original artwork may NOT be reproduced for SALE or for any financial gain.
Resources - This tab has additional resources to help make your family's FHE experience easier. There are links to helpful websites, product recommendations and hints.
How to Participate
Obviously the content on this site is free for all who find it helpful. I choose to do this on my own time to help MY family's goal of having FHE 100%, but also to help others. But I would like something in return....positive feedback.
Leave Comments - I would LOVE to know that my efforts are making a difference in your life. If you print and use a FHE lesson, please come back and leave a comment on that lesson! If you download a FREEBIE, please give me a shout out!
Tell Others - Share this site with members of your Ward, relatives near and far and even non-memebr families. Wouldn't it be fun if extended families followed the same FHE schedule each week and could share experiences between cousins, siblings and Grandparents? Write a blurb on your blog, grab a site button (available in the side bar), and share through Facebook.
Share Experiences - I suggest that all families take pictures of their FHE experiences each week. Wouldn't this be a wonderful record to look back on in years to come of your best and most righteous efforts to teach your chidlren? I would love to feature families from all over the country and the world, using these lessons, acitivites and resources on this blog. To see how to be featured on this site please read following section.
Readers can email me photos/experiences of their own family using the lessons and activities found on this blog. All submissions will be featured on this blog!
